Yesterday was Elisabeth's actual birthday. I decided that each year she will do some sort of a community service project on her birthday. This started because she gets so much attention on her birthday that I want to make sure she remembers to give back to someone/something that has a greater need than her. She is so fortunate and has so much and I don't want her to take that for granted. So we purchased some dog food and took it to the Humane Society to make a donation. Elisabeth took one of her school friends along. They loved seeing all the dogs and cats during our tour. I want to thank our friend Whitney at the Humane Society for taking time out of her busy day to show two 6-year-olds around. It was an extremely positive experience and the girls learned about the power of giving back. Elisabeth will do this every year. I will even let her miss school as long as she dedicates a big portion of the day to her project. Right now I control the projects with some input from her. I can't wait to see what she comes up with as she grows. Here are some pictures from our trip.
