Mothers

A dear friend forwarded this to me and I wanted to share it here with all the mothers I know. You may have seen it before but it's still good for another read through.

MOTHERS

Real Mothers don't eat quiche; they don't have time
to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?' and get their answer when a little voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth is not measured by height or years or grade...It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother...

This time of year is so hectic for all of us but I feel even more so for us moms. There's even more juggling and responsibilities added to our plate as we plan travel, meals and gift buying/giving. I often silently smile to myself when I hear a friend or coworker without children complain about how much they have to do to get to work in the morning. It's in those moments that I think about getting up at 5:30a.m., getting dressed in a rush, trying to wrangle two tired kids into clothing all the while trying to make them understand the inherent benefits of eating a good solid breakfast instead of candy. Checking and re-checking to make sure we have lunches, water bottles, finished homework, blankets (a must), and all the extra million things that are required for school and the car ride. Then there's the crying (which always happens at some point, EVERY morning), the fighting over what music is on the radio and then finally the kisses goodbye. Then I make my own long trek across town, jockey through a myriad of red lights and search for parking.

I grew up a military brat and often heard my dad and his friends joke that they got more done before 9am than most people did all day. Now I can confidently say, you ain't got nuthin' on us moms.

So today, I celebrate all the moms I know and wish you a peaceful, loving and glorious day.
