Vacation - Day 7 (Friday)

Today we spent a great deal of time exploring history, strolling through memory lane and creating new memories with family. It was a truly remarkable day.

We spent the first part of the day visiting the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Ben Franklin's Grave where it's good luck to throw a penny on his grave. Matthew and I truly enjoyed walking these steps and seeing the sacred ground where the Declaration of Independence was signed. Ben Franklin's stamp on Philadelphia is amazing and you see his work at every turn. There's a marker by his grave that lists his accomplishments (picture below). I thought to myself, I wonder if any of today's politicians have completed just one accomplishment that correlates to any one of Mr. Franklin's? Probably not. No surprise there.

A short list of Ben Franklin's accomplishments.

The room where the Declaration of Independence was signed. It took my breath away to just be in this room.

The trip would not have been complete without sharing a Philadelphia pretzel.

Matthew also drove me to an area just outside Philly where he and his family used to live. Here's a picture of the house they used to live in.

We spent our last evening of vacation with more family. We loved sharing stories and watching the kids play around us. We were treated to meeting the newest family member as well. Time sped by us so fast and before we knew it, it was time to say good night and good bye. Our hearts are full with the love we shared and we can't wait until the next time.
