Spring Break 2008 - Day 4

Today was a calmer day than the rest of Spring Break so far due to my horrific allergies. They have started way too early this year! We spent the morning at home and then braved the never-ending rain to visit the Lexington Public Safety Museum in the afternoon. The museum is located on the 1st floor of the Lexington History Museum. It is a small museum but definitely significant. The President is a Lexington Police Officer and he and his fellow board members valiantly seek to record Lexington's public safety history. It was truly interesting to see how the police, fire and corrections departments have evolved over the years. It was particularly important to me that Elisabeth see some of the police history given her daddy is a police officer. I do admit that she was mostly bored because the history is a bit above her head but it's never too early to start exposing her to it. The Museum is open on Fridays thru Mondays from Noon-4pm and houses a large collection of photos, badges, patches, uniforms, equipment and other memorabilia from the over 100 years of Public Safety history in Lexington. Oh, did I mention that it's FREE?? The museum relies on public support so if you visit and like it, please become a member!
